Find Our Common Ground

The Common Ground Country Fair is one of the most popular fairs in Maine and one that I think everyone should have on their must-do list for fall. Hosted each year by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA), this fair features demonstrations, hands-on activities, music and children’s activities, along with a huge range of artisans with their handmade goods.

I doubt that any of us is perfect in our quest to be “green” or “environmentally friendly” or to “live sustainably,” but when you walk around this fair, you can’t help but be reminded that there are lots of things you can do to live a bit closer to nature and to decrease our impact on the earth. I find this fair reinvigorating, and it’s delightful to meet people who are already committed to that cause or are just learning how to make little changes in their lives.

No matter what’s going on in our world, I remain hopeful that we can find common ground and work together to live both conscientiously and peacefully.
